FUEL PRICE INCREASE: MINISTER AMADOU KONE MEETS WITH TRANSPORT ORGANIZATIONS AND CONSUMER ASSOCIATIONS.

Due to the recent increase in fuel prices, the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, Amadou Koné, held a meeting on Monday, August 3, 2026 in Abidjan, with representatives of transport organizations and consumer associations.

This meeting took place in the presence of leaders of umbrella organizations, such as Ibrahim Diaby, Director General of the High Council of Employers of Road Transport Companies (HCPTR), Adama Touré, President of the bus stations, and Ben N’Faly Soumahoro, President of the Ivorian Federation of Consumers Le Réveil (FICR), among others.

For Amadou Koné, this meeting is in line with the government’s desire to maintain a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders, the objective being to preserve a calm social climate in order to ensure a modern and efficient transport system for the benefit of citizens.

The minister specified that the increase in petroleum product prices goes beyond the national framework and affects many countries, adding that it is part of an international context marked by a global crisis that is impacting markets.

Furthermore, he assured that the government had not systematically passed on this increase to consumers, stating that the current rise “is not final.” He then went on to highlight the numerous efforts and investments made in the sector, particularly the subsidy of petroleum products.

Note that the price of a liter of super has increased from 875 FCFA to 905 FCFA, while that of diesel has increased from 700 FCFA to 725 FCFA since August 1, 2026.
